Privacy Policy

How CollegeAthleteInsider.com handles your data, cookies, advertising, and analytics. Last updated September 2026.

CollegeAthleteInsider.com is written and run by one person, C. B. Zakarian. This Privacy Policy explains what information the site collects when you visit, and how it is used. Below, "I" and "me" mean that person; "the site" means CollegeAthleteInsider.com. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information the site collects

The site does not require you to create an account, and it does not ask you to submit personal information to read articles. There are no forms and no newsletter. If you email me, I receive the information you choose to send (such as your name and email address) and use it only to reply.

Like most websites, the web server and the services below may automatically collect standard technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and pages viewed — through server logs, cookies, and similar technologies. The site is a set of static files served by Microsoft IIS on a server I operate; there is no database, no login, and no user account of any kind. Server logs are used to keep the site running and are not combined with anything else to identify you.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. They are used here for two purposes: a first-party preference kept in your browser's local storage to remember your light/dark theme choice, and third-party cookies set by the advertising and analytics services described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, and your theme choice will simply reset.

Advertising and Google AdSense

This site may display ads served by Google AdSense and its partners. When it does, these third parties may use cookies and device identifiers. Consent for advertising storage, ad personalization and ad user data defaults to denied on every page until you choose otherwise through the consent prompt (Google's Funding Choices), which loads on every page.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
  • Where required, the site (and its ad partners) request consent for ad personalization. If you decline, you may still see non-personalized ads.

I do not control the cookies set by advertising partners. Please review Google's privacy and terms for details on how they use data.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-HP1YB5M66Z) to understand, in aggregate, which articles are read and how the site performs. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you visit; I use it to improve the site, not to identify you personally. You can learn more in Google's privacy policy and opt out site-wide with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Where cookies are used, the cookie controls above also apply.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience — adults who follow college sports and read statistical analysis — and it is not directed at children under 13. Nothing here is aimed at a child audience: there are no games, no toys, no cartoon characters, no child-oriented incentives, and the writing assumes an adult reader who wants regression output and sample sizes. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and consistent with the editorial policy stated on the About page, I do not profile, rank, or publish data on individual high-school recruits, who are minors.

Your choices and rights

You can control cookies through your browser, change or withdraw your advertising consent at any time through the consent prompt, opt out of personalized ads via the links above, and email me to ask what information I hold from any correspondence with you. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights: under the GDPR, to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data and to object to processing; under the CCPA/CPRA, to know what personal information is collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing — I do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. Email me to make a request and I will answer it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as the site, the law, or its service providers change. The "last updated" date above is revised when that happens.
